|
| Natural zeolite is the new reference material for swimming pool filter media.
It is rapidly replacing sand as the product of choice for private and public
swimming pools, waterparks and spas. It is used in the same way as sand in the
same type of filter system giving superior performance and improved water quality. |

| Natural zeolite has a highly porous structure and high specific surface area which means it can remove fine particles down to 10µm and below.
Sand filters will usually only remove particles as small as 50µm. Zeolite also has natural cation
exchange capacity which means it can remove dissolved ammonia from swimming pool water. Ammonia is
formed from urine and it reacts with chlorine products in the pool to form chloramines which
irritate bather's eyes and skin. |

| Zeolite has a far greater filtration capacity than sand and requires less maintenance and fewer
backwashes. Water consumption is therefore significantly reduced and the use of zeolite also reduces
the amount of chlorine products needed for disinfection. Natural zeolite is therefore a more
environmentally friendly filter medium as well giving superior water quality. |
